About Us

Let me share the inspiring journey of Be the Change MN, a story that began in 2020 during a year of profound challenges. Amid the aftermath of George Floyd’s tragic death and the global COVID-19 pandemic, we came together with a vision to create something transformative.

We founded Be the Change MN with a clear mission: to support smaller, youth-focused nonprofits and to strengthen connections between corporations and the communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Our goal is simple yet powerful—to bridge gaps and bring people together in meaningful ways.

Every year, we engage with around 10,000 students, families, teachers, volunteers, smaller nonprofits, and corporate partners. It’s a massive undertaking, driven by our commitment to making a positive difference in as many lives as possible.

One of the highlights of our work is the Annual Golf Tournament. This event isn’t just about golf—it’s a fundraising powerhouse. Each year, we select 4-6 smaller nonprofits that focus on youth and families, awarding them grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. This tournament plays a crucial role in connecting community needs with corporate support and bridging the gap between the two.

Then there’s the Winter Wonderland event, a magical initiative that we’re especially proud of. Partnering with the Mall of America, we host a special event for Minneapolis elementary schools. With the help of over 100 dedicated volunteers, we transform the holiday season into something truly special for 3,000 families, students, and teachers, creating a VIP experience that’s nothing short of magical.

Our Speaker Series is another cornerstone of our work. It’s a platform for community healing, social justice, and fostering healthy conversations. Through these events, we create space for open dialogue on critical issues, promoting understanding and collective progress.

And let’s not overlook the Follow Your Dreams Career and College Fair. This event is a game-changer for 600 students of color and newcomers in the Twin Cities Public Schools. Hosted at the beautiful Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis, it opens doors, creates opportunities, and helps students turn their dreams into reality.
